Al Gore and Kevin Wall, Live Earth 07/07/07

Al Gore's activism on behalf of the planet is documented in his award for "An Inconvenient Truth." He and Kevin Wall (Founder and CEO of Network Live, executive producer of Worldwide Television for Live 8) led an effort to hold concerts on all seven continents to promote awareness of the global climate crisis, and recruit people to get involved. It was resisted by partisans who saw it as a "stealth" presidential campaign promotion, or as a promotion of an activism they would rather see go away. It set records for media streaming on the Internet. This is perhaps its biggest impact. It bypassed the mainstream media to feed its message directly to some two billion viewers worldwide. Yes, it did have MSM coverage, by NBC in the US, BBC2 in Britain, etc. What little we saw of the NBC coverage was typically lame, similar to the typical coverage of the Olympics, wherein they believe that their "talking heads" are the story and the event is incidental. They do have the whole thing on the web, though (link below), furthering the message that the alternate medium is here and growing. The organizational success to pull this off is astonishing. It was a portent of things to come as the Internet Age develops and provide a means to combat the Assault on Reason in which the MSM are so very complicit.
